A card game to upset your friends and yourself.
Dealing rotates clockwise around the table. The person with the 7 of spades is the first to play in the round. The round continues from the person that plays the 7 of spades.
A 7 of any suit is needed in order to start placing cards of that suit. All other cards are placed one per person in order of sequence of 6-A (aces are the equivalent to 1) or 8-K in the same suit as the seven. In order to place cards of a suit other than spades, the corresponding card in spades must also have been already placed.
Only one card is played per person during their turn if they have a possible card to place. If a player cannot place a card, one card from every other player is given to that person and their turn is over. If a player has only one card, they are exempt from giving a card to the player who cannot place a card.
You do not have to state that you only have one card left. Also there is no penalty if you could have placed a card and either choose not to play or did not realize you could have played since having a bunch of cards added to your hand is enough of a penalty.
Select "New Game" from the main menu to start a new game.
Initially, you will be able to customize the game with several options. The number of opponents you want to play, any sorting method you want for the hand, and whether to apply that sorting to the opponents managed by the computer.
When selecting the sorting method, this will change the way cards are organized in your hand. No sorting will display them in the random order they were in when the deck was shuffled and dealt.
Sorting by suit will display the cards in the order of spades, hearts, clubs, then diamonds. The cards will then be sorted in order from Ace to King.
Sorting by sevens will sort the cards in the order of spades, hearts, clubs, then diamonds. The cards will then be sorted starting with the 7 of that suit, and then in the order they can be played on top of the 7.
By applying the sort to the computer, it changes the order in which the computer controlled players choose their cards to play. The initial sort will force them to play in the order the hand was dealt. The suit and sevens sort will force them to play spades first, then hearts, clubs, and diamonds in that order. The suits sort will favour lower cards over higher ones. The sevens sort will favour cards closest to the 7 of that suit.
If you choose not to apply the sorting, the default of "None" will be applied.
Currently this is not implemented.
The option "Deal Next Round" will be available after setting up a new game, and when a winner is declared at each round. You have control over starting the deal or choosing to exit, however the dealer is randomly chosen after starting a new game, and will rotate clockwise around the table after that.
Press one of the cards in your hand to choose a card to play. If you cannot play that card currently, an alert will occur stating you cannot play it. When you select one that can be played, the button on the option menu will change to reflect your selection. Pressing that button afterwards will place the card on the table and your turn will end.
Hint: Try to choose cards the will either allow you to play the next time your turn happens. For instance if you have the 8 and 9 of a suit and the 7 is played, choose to play the 8 so you will be able to play again if it comes around to your turn. On the other side, hold off on cards that another player would be able to place on top of. For instance, if you can place a 6 but do not have the 5, try to choose another card. Of course if you have limited options, just try to keep playing a card.
When you skip a turn, all players except yourself will choose a card from their hand to put into your hand. They will only be able to give you a card if
they have more than one card in their hand. The priority for computer controller players will always be cards they cannot play. After that it will be just be the first card in their hand based on the current sort order.
If you cannot play, you will have no choice but to skip a turn and get cards given to you. At any time though, you have the choice to skip, but you will still be given cards.
When another player cannot play or chooses to skip their turn, you need to choose a card to give them.
Hint: Prioritize cards farthest from the 7 of any suit like Kings and Aces. Try to give away suits that have not had the 7 played yet. As well, if there are any cards played on the seven, choose the opposite side of the seven. For example, if the 6 has been played, choose a King before choosing an Ace.
You can exit the game at any time. Just choose the exit button during any play.
While playing a game, you are able to adjust some of those options using the configuration menu.
